Four stunning rococo palaces make up Amalienborg Palace, the current home of Denmark’s royal family. Situated around a statue of King Frederik V, the palace was built under his reign in the middle of the 18th century. Along with being home to royalty, Amalienborg is also a museum. Certain rooms are on display to the public, showing what royal residences from the 19th and 20th centuries would have looked like. Similar to Buckingham Palace in London, a changing of the guard takes place in front of Amalienborg Palace daily starting at 11:30 am.
