Inside Ramnagar Fort is a museum, which tells you the history of the fort and its inhabitants.  It also keeps a rare collection of texts and manuscripts, including books decorated with illustrations in delightful miniature.  It will explain to you that the fort was built in the 18th century in the Mughal style of the period which favoured rounded balconies and pavilions and expansive paved courtyards – this is where some of those Englishmen got the ideas for their follies.
