This fort, sitting, king of the castle, on top of Mount Pog, was one of the final strongholds of the Cathars, though the ruins sitting on the spot today are from the 1600s, in the post-medieval royal French architectural style.
The mythology surrounding this fort includes tales of the Cathars slipping out under siege with a 'treasure' thought by some to include the Holy Grail.
The view is still as lovely as always.
