This castle began as a 12th Century feudal fortress, but it's been rebuilt several times since then and now has the look of a 17th Century French castle with pointed turrets and and rounded towers.  The castle actually gets a lot of its fame and attention for its roof – which has black ridged tiles, which have influenced the changing of the castle's moniker 'The Black Pearl'.  Some people say it has the most romantic roof in France.  The lead and ironwork add to the charm of the many turrets.

The inside it's pretty romantic as well.
