Listed under Canyons in Mountain States, United States.
As well as the spectacular, canyon cracked environment, the 150,000 acres of country that make up Zion Canyon and the Zion National Park is also home to rare wildlife, such as mountain lions and golden eagles.
The canyon walls in this region are red and white Navajo sandstone and there is more varied plant life than in most of the parks in the American southwest. Its unique scenery and animal life make a great backdrop for climbing, horse riding and hiking, including the famous Virgin River Narrows Trail.
There is also an ampitheatre used for out door performances in the summer - against one of the most breath taking backdrops imaginable.
