Havasu Canyon is a side branch of the Grand Canyon and is an area of large pools and waterfalls fed by a small creek and an underground spring. One of the most striking features of the creek and pools is their bright blue colour, caused by calcium in the water lining the bottom of the waterways and reflecting the blue of the region's sky. This blue contrasts with the red rocks of the region with startling effect.

The complex includes several caves and cliff dwellings with rock paintings completed thousands of years ago. This is a great place for hiking and climbing and you can always take a dip in the pools if you get too hot.

April to May and September to November are best for a visit to Havasu Canyon because the weather is less scorching.
