The campsite looks a bit like giant golf balls have been planted in the snow, but in actual fact, these golf balls are comfortable “pods” in an Alpine wonderland. Pitched at an altitude of 1400 meters, the camp is only accessible by foot or ski- a sure way to keep the crowds at bay. Nine pods offer single or double occupancy, each pod is supplied with organic bedding, oil lamps and sheepskin throws for that rustic feeling. Being in the heart of the Swiss Alps, fun in the snow is the main attraction. Instructors on hand to give lessons in nearly ever kind of snowboarding and skiing invented. Views of the mountain peaks are amazing in every direction. After a chilly day in the snow, a drink in the camp bar is sure to warm you up. The camp and area is peaceful and quiet which works well with the tranquil scenery.

I'm pretty sure these ones are bespoke, but it might be worth getting in touch with them to see if they can give you any pointers in building your own.

Whitepod

Instead of spending your holiday in a hotel room somewhere near a beach, how about staying in an Igloo on a mountain? At Whitepod, located in the Alps of Switzerland, nine dome tents house adventurous guests around a camp fire where the hotel serves organic meals. With their eco-friendly attitude, Whitepod serves a great location for skiers and winter lovers alike. The hotel has limited electricity, but the rooms are heated with wood stoves. Many of their supplies come from local companies and recycling is heavily stressed. For those who wish to indulge, Whitepod also has a relaxing spa where you can get a massage and take in the beautiful mountaintop views.
