Made infamous by Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, the feral countryside of North Yorkshire is basic and unapologetic. This caravan park in Pickering may not be quite as dilapidated as the house in the popular novel, but it could do with a lighter hand to iron out some problems. Even for a moderately sized site, the amount of visitors it receives each summer still negates the need for an overflow field without its own facilities. There is a playground for kids, but depending on where your tent is you might need to go along to supervise them. Also, if you’re camping with kids there is nothing close enough to walk to, and a car is the best way to get to anywhere worth seeing.
