In the heart of the Duddon Valley with views out on to the fells and up to the Dow Crag and the Lakelands, this site is is a collection of pretty fields hugging the rocky base of a crag.

The showers are a bit pricey, but fairly recently renovated but this is more for people who appreciate the value of getting away from things like electricity outlets and traffic.  There's a pub nearby though, so you're not in the middle of nowhere!

“Turner Hill Farm”

This campsite in Cumbria is not one for kids, grandparents or excitable dogs. In spring, the narrow valley on whose floor the site rests becomes a grassy pocket of lambs. It is mainly used as a stopping-off point for intrepid hikers and there is no showe… Read more...

Comments, reviews and questions by other travellers

Alex Alans review is well out of date including the prices. Where is the photo, it is not of Turner Hall, is it even a campsite? I disagree with his comments kids & families love it here. Kids play on the rocks & the becks around the site & in the duddon river & woods close by. Dogs are welcome & like on any other farm or lakeland fell need to be kept on a lead.

I would wholeheartedly agree with what Tim Smith has posted, as I camped at Turner Hall Farm last year and the facilities were more than adequate. And what a beautiful area Duddon Valley is, Ray Mears fans need NOT apply :)

This review is nonsense (or perhaps - benefit of the doubt - it's just a bit out of date (no date displayed?)). The site has a "new" camping block with wash facilities and hot showers. It's still a bit out of the way but we were there last year with kids and they loved climbing on the rocky outcrops and exploring the fells with us. In fact we're going again this May with more kids! This campsite was included in the 08/09 Cool Camping guide.
