With fantastic views over the wide flood plains in front, this great little camp is run by a South African couple called Anton and Carrie. Although their first camp, they run it like its their own home giving guests a really personal atmosphere to relax and unwind in.

Each of the large tents are raised high on wooden structures and with enough room between each tent for a herd of elephant to pass through the en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers offering privacy unmatched in the concession. The rooms are beautifully decorated with Ostrich eggs and dark mahogany furniture with a decking area in front of the camp for relaxing and watching large herds of red lechwe graze through the water.

The main dining area, lounge and pool, all connected by wooden walkways look out over the floodplains but the focus is on the bar, sculptured out of the canopy of a large marula tree offering shade during the midday sun.

Tubu is a great option to explore the waterways of the Delta but also to use as a base for game drives, both during the day and at night or for walking safaris over one of the Delta’s most beautiful islands.

When the floods come in from May onwards, the plains in front of camp become gradually submerged and water activities become more of a focus. However when the floods recede, from November onwards, Tubu becomes a dry camp until April again when the waters slowly return.
