Situated next to the Reu River, with great views over the grassy plains and of the snowy-peaked Himalayas, Tiger Mountain Tented Camp offers twelve comfortable safari tents amongst overwhelming scenery. The tents are simply furnished, but have all the essentials, plus en suite bamboo bathrooms with hot water. The thatched dining room/bar, with its big fireplace, is central to the camp, serving traditional cuisine made with organic produce from the lodges own garden. Like the other lodges in the region, Tiger Mountain Camp is built to be environmentally friendly - solar energy is used for hot water and reading lamps; ceiling fans are used in the summer.
Aside from being bowled over by the scenery, the big highlight of the stay is to go on safari. There are a few types of safari on offer, but two of them are unmissable - game spotting from the back of an elephant roaming the grasslands, or crocodile spotting whilst gliding down one of the rivers in a traditional country boat. More traditional safaris are either on foot or by jeep. Light treks (or more intense if desired) can be arranged on some of Himalayan mountain trails. During certain times of the year it can get incredibly humid and nights can also be very cold so it's vital to take the correct clothing. Closed from May to mid-September during the monsoon season.
