Atop the white cliffs with views over the ocean, The Warren says it's in the perfect spot for a pre-tunnel camping warm up for campers heading to France - if the pretty villages of Kent and cliff top walking and views aren't enough for you. There are 80 pitches, some with direct views onto the pebbly beach, so this is a big site, but if privacy is a paramour paramount they have a few 'honeymoon pitch'.

Local attractions include Howletts Animal Park, WW2 bunkers, including those under Dover Castle, and a windmill in medieval Cranbrook – but the beach is less than 100 metres away if it's one of those do nothing holidays, and the pubs and restaurants of Folkestone. The facilities are geared for families, with larger family size bathrooms, and the reviews say they're clean but basic. There's just one shop. It gets busy in the summer so call ahead and book, or if you get there and can't fit there's a larger site next door which has better facilities but no beach access.

It's probably worth booking it in advance just in case.
