This is camping for those who want to camp. There is a no car, no bar, no fun rule that allows campers to sleep at night and hear nothing but the shifting trees and bubbling water in the stream that runs alongside you. The facilities are basic, but clean and cheap. Some fantastic walking routes in the area let you get away and stretch your legs, and there is a hotel nearby with a great restaurant and good selection of local real ales and beers. The ground is unlevel in places, so it could be a question of which end of your body you’d prefer to subject to the manipulations of gravity. Friendly owners and good rates mean it can get busy at the weekends, so perhaps finding a couple of quiet nights away during the week would be better.
