Kwetsani Camp is located in a private reserve to the west of Mombo and the Moremi Game Reserve. The large elongated island is heavily wooded with palm, mangosteen and fig trees, and Kwetsani is one of the most remote camps in the entire Okavango Delta.

Kwetsani Camp is raised on stilts beneath the shady canopy, overlooking the expansive plains. All the Okavango big game can be found here, and there are excellent chances of spotting the predators. Activities at Kwetsani Camp include mokoro-ing (a mokoro is a dug-out canoe), walking on palm-fringed islands, and game drives during the day and night. Lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, buffalo, and elephant are all found in the Kwetsani area, as well as good concentrations of zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and all the plains' game.

Access into this area is only by aircraft and the airfield is about 45 minutes from camp. During the height of the Okavango's floods (from about May to about September), you can typically only access Kwetsani Camp by boat from the Jao airstrip, being met on arrival by the smiling faces of Conrad and Kerrie the camp managers.

During the remainder of the year you'll usually be driven to Kwetsani .The water levels around the island change each year, depending on the magnitude of the annual floods from central Africa. The water levels at Kwetsani are at their highest from April or May to September each year.

Owners Cathy and David Kays come from a family of nature lovers. Like all families raised in and around the Okavango, wildlife is in their blood, and they have spent most of their lives out in the bush. When they won the rights for the Jao Reserve in the tender process, they were determined to make this Botswana's finest reserve. They turned their backs on hunting, even though it is allowed in this reserve. They are only the second reserve in Botswana not to hunt, when hunting is allowed and have decided to focus all their efforts on developing Jao into a superb photographic reserve.

Rooms: Kwetsani Camp is a small, intimate, ten-bedded luxury camp and is raised on wooden decks above the lush ground vegetation. The five spacious and lavish "tree-house" chalets are built under thatched roofs and have canvas and pole walls. En suite facilities under thatch include a shower, with an additional outdoor shower. The rooms have an open, airy feel about them, with a superb view of the surrounding plains.
