Aside from the Private Camp, Il Moran is the smartest of the Governors’ properties and is perfect for those looking for the bush, but in slightly more comfort than an out and out bush camp. Located in the Governors’ Mara concession over to the western edge of the Reserve, each of the 10 luxury tents overlooks the Mara River as it winds its way between the camps. With vast interiors, beds made from the twisted boughs of local olive trees and free standing baths, they have not held back. Similarly, the game on the nearby Paradise Plain is, in season, a sight to behold and rightly one of the places on the planet to visit, with swathes of wildebeest and the famous “Marsh Pride” all providing plenty of action.
