A child's dream, this site has an adventure course, a tree house, zip wire and a pond with rafts; and just down the road is a miniature steam railway. But best of all you're allowed to have an open fire, and they do a big barbecue. For adults the draw is the close proximity to the scenic strolls of the Lake District.

The downers are the rules and regulations which are pretty hard on the kids too – you're asked to be quiet after 10:30 in the evening, so camp fire stories and songs are cut a bit short, you have to keep dogs on a lead, and you have to be out by 11 on the final day of your stay. The local shop is pretty expensive, but further afield you pay less.

One to avoid

I cannot stress how rude and hotile the owners of this campsite have become in recent years.

My friends have been sevearl times before, so on their recommendation we planned a visit.

The owners were patronising and rude to me from the off. i asked a simple question on arrival and was told off in front of my children by a very abrubt man on a quad bike. The poor kids knew exactly what to expect from him as he reeled off his rules to them! Some holiday, I wouldn't visit again if they paid me!

Thanks for the warning Sarah!

Rules excessivley Enforced by Regimental Owner

Scenery - Breathtaking, has to be seen to be believed,

Campsite- Good facilities. I jhave wonderful memories of holidays here with my parents. Now aged 26 the site sadly hes an oppressive feel created by the owner who is watcing at all times intimidating with a patronising tone imposing herself upon your stay.

I will never return here. Try somewhere else or if you really want to stay here please pay by the night as there are no refunds and they ae keen to trick you into another night on arrival asking "Two nights?" and then once they have your money their regime is enforced upon you and you either live by the rules of a tyrant another 24 hours or make a break for it and loose your money as we did.

Quiet after 10:30 is usually respected by most campers but here it is enforced OR ELSE! Of course these are my opinions. Try it for yourself but please try one night first and have your answers prepared for the cross examination on arrival by the owner who asks if you know anyone on tehir already or if anyone else is joining you.

At Fisherground the camper should be seen but Not ever heard!
