Chitabe is situated on one of the Delta’s most beautiful islands. It has a spectacular view over the flood plains in front of what is a truly authentic safari camp. The diversity of the area is a major attraction for guests, as Chitabe offers the chance to experience all that Delta scenery with vast floodplains and waterways as well as mopane woodland, dry acacia and open grasslands.

Situated in a private area in the South East section of the Okavango, Chitabe has eight spacious East African Style tents that are built on elevated wooden decks all connected to the main camp by raised wooden pathways. Each tent has en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and elegantly polished wooden floors leading out to a decking area that offers great views over the plains.

The lounge and dining area are both under thatch and surprisingly spacious for such a small camp. The atmosphere they invoke however is very intimate and welcoming and is a beautiful place to relax with a book and a long drink after an early morning game drive. The camps pool is also a well needed respite from the African sun.

The game at Chitabe is very diverse due to the range of habitat; attracting large numbers of predators including all the cats and wild dog. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and impala are often sighted from camp during the day but Chitabe’s night drives allow viewing of the rare nocturnal creatures and their exceptional guided walks teach guests the finer details of the bush.
