Huzur Vadisi translates to “peaceful valley”, which is clearly the aim of this retreat, which focuses on the care of body, mind and soul. Set along the Mediterranean, or ‘turquoise’ coast of Turkey, the location is unspoilt, peaceful and rustic.
Traditional nomadic yurts are spread out between olive and fig trees, and provide spacious and eco-friendly accommodation. These yurts are perfect for the warm Mediterranean weather - on balmy evenings, the roof can be opened to let in a breeze and to do some stargazing whilst lying in bed!
Other interesting features of the retreat are the natural stone swimming pool and the traditional wooden Kösk, something crossed between a tree-house and a log cabin. In cooler weather, the restored farmhouse has a big log burning fire where guests can warm up in the evenings. The atmosphere of the resort is completely relaxed and friendly, with numerous spiritual workshops specialising in different types of yoga. Huzur Vadisi is a great place to get in touch with your soul, but there is also plenty to see and do in the area. The nearby town of Gocek is both a laid back village and favourite stopover for celebrities, whose fancy yachts get moored at the marina. Boat trip are a great way to explore the area, with its numerous islands and little bays. One such island is Tersane Island, which has an ancient boatyard and partially submerged ruins of a Byzantine monastery.
The beach is a fifteen minute drive from the site, and is the epitome of mediterranean beach heaven with all its white-sanded glory . Best months to visit are May (for spring flowers) and September, when the weather is slightly cooler.
