Set on the banks of the Luangwa River, nestled into the forest, Bilimungwe has a peaceful outlook over the permanent water hole in front of the main dining and lounge area. Many animals are attracted to the water and flock there in droves making for easy, relaxing viewing and an exciting sighting.
Bilimungwe is the southernmost camp in the South Luangwa National Park and is just a short road transfer from Mfuwe airport and sister camp to Chendeni only 6 kms away. Andy Hogg and Alison Oliver do a fantastic job in running the camps and are usually around to offer help or a friendly chat.
Camp is linked up by a series of raised wooden walkways and kept cool by the shade of the magnificent mahogany trees that provide the backdrop for this idyllic spot. Each of the four reed and thatch chalets has 2 double beds, en-suite showers, toilets, double vanities and an individual rechargeable lighting system.
An expert guide is on hand to take guests out for morning walking safaris and after a hearty brunch, a game drive in an open vehicle gives the opportunity of going further a field and seeing some bigger game. At Bilimungwe, open from 01 June to 31st October, game drives are run during the day and at night.
