New Orleans is a city known for its night life, and what better way is there to top off a great night out than with a stop at celebrated New Orleans eatery Café du Monde?

Founded in 1862 in the French Market, Café du Monde is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, excepting only Christmas Day. Renown worldwide for its menu of café au lait (coffee and chicory with milk) and beignets (French-style doughnuts covered in powdered sugar), this simple approach to food is best described by the American proverb, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Although there are now multiple locations of the Café du Monde Coffee Stand, if at all possible, make an effort to make it to the French Market for the most authentic experience.

For a taste of true New Orleans flavor, stop in in the early morning hours, when party revelers crowd the restaurant; or for a more reserved experience, enjoy your meal and people-watching later on. No matter the hour of your visit, Café du Monde is an experience you won’t soon forget.
