Whitehaven Beach is a spectacular, picture-perfect white sand beach. In the competition for best beach, Whitehaven, on Whitsunday Island, has been regularly bandied about. Whitehaven Beach supporters cite the sand, which is pure white silica (which means made up of tiny grains of granite and suitable to be used to create the most precise glass for optical instruments etc.) and very very bright in the warm sun, set against 7kms of clear waters which naturally appear a stunning shade of blue. If your idea of the best beach involves having the colours just right you will love Whitehaven Beach. You can walk the beach for over 5kms, and also camp, swim, snorkel and buff your jewellery in the sand...
The best way to get to Whitehaven Beach is to moor offshore on your yacht and swim to the beach, and find a spot not frequented with day-trippers. Failing that, you need to become one yourself, and there are a number of catamaran and other boat trips from Airlie Beach to Whitehaven Beach.

Whitehaven Beach is located one hour boat ride from Day Dream Whitsunday Island. It's certainly one of the most pristine beaches in the world. It's good to be alone on the sand and in the water, and certainly there are no waves to interrupt you. Accessible only by boat. Get there by yacht for a relaxing, truly elegant cruise or go by power boat if you're in a hurry.
I have been there and the water is amazing. I loved the gorgeous birds and the pure white sand.
it sounds like a nice place to go

I went there some years ago with my Mum and my kids and I have to say it is the most beautiful beach in the World and I've been to many - the sand is like walking on talcum powder and the sea is clear as - I hope they never build on it cause it would ruin the serenity.
Whitehaven beach is a pristine expanse of pure white beach over 9km of sand, with gently shelving shallows into a crystal blue sea. Tropical lushness and great snorkelling help make this perhaps the most beautiful beach in the world.
