There’s a certain beautiful logic to beaches that have sandy shores that turn rocky once you’re in the water. Yes, it’s not as soft on the feet but the water looks so much clearer and you don’t have as much trouble with sand in your bathing suit. Below the water level on Vai beach the rocks are quite large which makes for a slippery entry but it looks gloriously clear – perfect for snorkelling.

Up on the sand there’s a bit pf topless bathing going on but only the standard for the area, but around the corner to the south there’s a naturist beach if you’re aiming for that all over tan.

Beaches that look this nice need to have a set up for looking at them in comfort, preferably with a drink in front of you, and Vai has beach restaurants, bars and cantinas. Vai also has a framing of palm trees just to top of the visual appeal. Pretty as a really really good holiday snap – the kind to make your neighbours jealous.
