Strandhill Beach

Tidal, rather than wind generated waves apparently mean as a beginner you have less chance of getting knocked off your surf board, which is exactly the beauty of this beach. The sand is flat and gleams with moisture high up the beach and the sky and water are grey, hemmed in only by distant stark, dark cliffs, but this is the beauty of and Irish beach we’re appreciating not the Caribbean, and this cool expanse has the beauty and drama of a Turner painting but with much more regular seas promising excellent conditions to learn to surf in.
