A vast, open stretch of butterscotch-coloured sand, this is the largest and most popular beach on Ibiza. You'll find most of it pock-marked with the impressions of rent-by-the-hour sunbeds, umbrellas and pedaloes, but despite its reputation as a busy, buzzing centre of activity, the Playa d'en Bossa is long enough to accommodate most tastes, and the end furthest from the town has a few peaceful restaurants and an empty stretch of sand for anyone with a penchant for quietness, or a hangover. Towards the middle, though, you'll find several bars playing thumping house music and serving awkwardly-named cocktails, and plenty of watersports facilities. The sand slopes down gently into the water so it's great for swimming, and it's also very popular with windsurfers because of the warm, southerly wind which occasionally turns the bay choppy.
