The whole coastline curving round the Playa Blanca is like one long, beach lined, nine kilometre wide bay, which scoops around so that most of it is quite well sheltered. The name says some of it – Playa Blanca – White Beach, but the sand is really more a pale gold than a white. It has a Blue Flag, a European symbol for beach cleanliness, so maybe that’s what they mean when they say ‘white’. It’s a man made beach and well set up for watersports.
The resort town directly behind the beach takes the same name and has the kind of bars, cafes and shops you expect from a Canary Island resort town.
