This bay is deeper than most of Mauritian bays, so its shade of bright blue is tinted far darker. The added depth makes it a favourite among snorkellers. Why it’s a favourite among young party peeps is less obvious, but Pereybere Beach is thought of as a ‘fun beach’, meaning football games on the sand, kitesufing above the water level, jet skiing on the water line and a bit of splashing in the water – though obviously not enough to scare the fish who the snorkellers come for, or to turn away families who appreciate the calm sea of the protected lagoon and the shade of the palms and casuarinas.
