Bright lights, dancing girls and disco take over Patong in the evenings, when the centre of town steams in shades of neon and the music and chaos of lots of people involved in lots of different parties takes over. But the parties only started because of the beach, this long sweep of sand was one of the first Thai beaches to start attracting the watersport set, who like to play hard in the evenings as well as in the daylight. Jet ski, parasail, windsurf, water ski, wakeboard, play volley ball, get a massage on the beach, or lounge around on your sun-lounger waiting for the beach vendors selling food drinks, ice cream, clothes, jewellery and anything else to bring the market to you, while the sun shines and fight for your right to party as the sun goes down.
