Matala Beach

This is one of the most popular beaches on Crete – it's got the clear waters, a nice mix of sand and pebbles and the added bonus of some interesting rock formations and caves – all protected by a calm bay. Snorkelling is fine, as is the water.
This beach lines the shore of a resort town on the south of Crete, which is the quieter side.
