From October to April Makaha Beach Park is slammed with intense waves. This makes Makaha Beach Park a popular spot for surfers and the home of Buffalo's Big Board Surf Classic. Because of the strong currents, it's best to visit this mile long beach in the summer when the waves are smaller. At this time, divers can find an area of big fish and warm waters to explore. Lifeguards are on duty and showers and restrooms are provided.
