Several soft vanilla spreads of sand tucked into indentations in jagged, dark rocks, Mahaulepu's beaches are clean, wild and spectacular. There's plenty of clambering about and exploring to be done, a wealth of rock pools and great surfing to be had, but the undertow is quite strong so it's not usually safe for swimming. However, there are some large, sun-heated tidal pools that children will love, wonderful views and nothing but sugar cane plantations for miles around.
