Near the town of Magilligan in Londonderry, this firm sandy beach of seven miles length, backed by sand dunes, is particularly popular with coastal ramblers. The mud and sand flats are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the dune system - one of the largest systems of its type in the UK - and for the associated vegetation. Magilligan is also part of the Lough Foyle Special Protection Area, and is internationally important as an area for breeding, over-wintering and migrating birds. Benone is also just a lovely place to visit. It
