After spending most of my summers at the beach in Atlantic City New Jersey, Magens Bay was an incredible experience. For those of you who have spent time on New Jersey beaches, you know what I mean when I say that the water is grey and choppy, the sand is strewn with broken sea shells and bits of trash and you are forced to hide beneath an umbrella from the insane amount of swooping pigeons. Now, imagine the complete opposite and you have the glorious Magens Bay.

Upon first arrival you wonder what all the fuss is about. Stepping off the bus, there is just an ordinary parking lot with a bathroom and changing facility on the side. Walk a few steps more and you’ll find some scattered palm trees where the sand begins. Pass through those and then you begin to understand.

Now I’m sure most of you are tired of the old clichés of “white sand beaches” and “clear blue water” but bear with me because this is another one of ‘those’ reviews.

The white sand is gorgeous and it looks like miniscule grains of crystal in the sun. The sand flows perfectly into the crystal-clear turquoise water. The water here is perfect for swimming. It is warmer than most pools and there are no humongous waves trying to pull you under. Your feet only touch smooth sand, no broken sea shells or trash in sight.

My day on Magens Bay was easily the best beach experience of my life so far. It is a fun, relaxing, clean and family friendly environment, completely worth the small admission price of about $4.00. It is a ‘must see’ while on St. Thomas.

Magens Bay

What could be more romantic than a stroll on a heart-shaped beach in the Caribbean? Magens Bay on Saint Thomas, a previous contender in the ten most beautiful beaches in the world, has a mile-long stretch of white sandy shores and sapphire blue waters.
