Drive east out of San Juan along the ribbon of coast and you’ll pass a variety of beaches, but it’s hard to find one nicer than Luquillo Beach, more than a mile of warm caramel sand on the edge of a palm plantation that provides shade, protection from the wind and a tropical kind of decoration.

You might be surprised, when you see how clean Luquillo Beach is to learn that it’s a public beach, but the totally acceptable bathrooms and showers, disabled access and ample parking are there to prove it. There's also cafes and everything else you'd expect to find at a public beach.

Luquillo is called ‘La Capital del Sol’ (The Sun Capital) which is also promising.
