Llafranc is a little resort town suited to holidaymakers looking for a calm, easy-going vibe and pretty surroundings. Half way down the Costa Brava, it’s nothing more than a handful of whitewashed villas with terracotta-tiled roofs, which appear to have tumbled out of the hillside woods and onto the seafront. The wide, gently curved beach and safe, shallow water are the colours they’d be in a child’s painting – strikingly bright and sun-soaked – and the cafes and seafood restaurants along the promenade still manage to maintain a traditionally Mediterranean village air.
