Leblon Beach is the most tranquil of Rio's beaches, less crowded than its neighbor, Ipanema beach, and minus the hassling souvenir vendors who can take away from precious relaxation time. Frequented by Cariocas (people who were born in Rio de Janeiro), this beach is a local hotspot.

The beach is one of the best in Rio for beach volleyball, but competition for court time is fierce.

Excellent for families, the waters are safe for young children to splash about in, but also features several prime surfing spots. The nightlife on the beach is also a highlight, with plenty of clubs, bars, restaurants, and shops that stay open late for post-beach fun.
