Often called ‘The Heart of the Cape,’ Hout Bay is surrounded by ocean, wine farms, and the Constantia Mountains. The famous Mount Sentinel is an outpost in the sea in the east, and Karbokel Mountain is visible is the west. The wind-protected bay has a lively fishing town atmosphere and is a mere 20 minute drive from the Cape Town city centre. It is also home of the snoek and crayfish industry. Snoek soup is a local speciality, and you can watch as the fishermen clean and prepare the freshly caught fish. Other than sailing, hiking, fishing, surfing, and cycling, there isn’t much you can’t do in Hout Bay.
