One of northern Germany's famously fabulous Baltic beaches, Hohwacht is a peaceful, breezy, reed-lined ribbon of soft, shortbread-yellow sand sloping gently down to clean, seahorse-topped water. To reach it, you'll pass through miles of flat meadows and farmland and a pretty little resort town of white houses with low, red roofs. It's an ideal temperature here in Summer – around 25C – and it's perfect for boating, paddling, windsurfing, shell-finding and sandcastle-making - a really traditional seaside destination. There's also a peaceful, no-nonsense nudist beach on the other side of the harbour.
