This stretch of coast is about as pristine as an inhabited bit of coast can be, it’s also spacious with the kind of sand guide books describe as soft and pale and shallow waters at a temperature which feels cool only when you’ve just got in. In the flush of green behind the strings of silvery sand is the temple of Swayambhu Ganapati which gets thousands of devoted visitors each year or for nature lovers a hike to the top of the hill at the far end of the beach rewards with a many coloured view of the green coast and the bright blue Arabian Sea.

Not as isolated as the photos look there are facilities for water sports and though you can camp you can also stay nearby in a comfortable bed.
