On Fourth Beach, the sand is a catwalk, lit up by the scorching sun and the tanned, oily bodies that bask in it. Celebrities and young hipsters flock to this beach year-round to sunbathe beside the breathtaking backdrop of Table Mountain and Lion's Head.

Considered one of the world's best beaches, Fourth Beach is a Blue Flag beach, a title given to beaches with exemplary water quality, environmental education, safety, and management.

One of Clifton's four beaches, the appropriately named Fourth Beach is the most popular. On hot summer days, the sand is barely visible under the array of beach towels, umbrellas, chairs, and bodies.

Be prepared for a shock if you plan on taking a dip in the ocean-the water is often unbearably cold.
