Forte Beach is the most popular beach in Cabo Frio. The fortress of Sao Mateus was built just off the beach in 1620, providing a unique backdrop for this coastal paradise. There are often music shows around the area, entertaining the many sunbathers and swimmers - but be aware that Forte Beach is often crowded and it may be hard to find an area of sand to relax in. However, this is a great beach for sailing and surfing.
