This used to be a local beach, but the visitors caught wind of it – it’s a very nice beach - and it’s now well known with tourists as well. The sand is just off white and fine and the water is very clear and shallow, so very good for children, and there are watersports gear hire places and restaurants and cafes along the edge of the sand to keep the older ones occupied. Stronger swimmers are able to swim out to a small, rocky island in the bay from which there’s an excellent view of how nice the beach you just came from is. Island explorers should make sure they can swim wearing or carrying their shoes, the rocks are very sharp.
Fig trees aren’t native to Cyprus which is why it seemed a worthy thing to name a bay after, and one of the cafes by the water claims to have that very first fig, brought over in the 17th Century.
