Conigli Beach (Rabbit Beach) is one of the last places on Lampedusa to see hatching sea turtles (in September). Unfortunately increased tourism has driven them away (see www.seaturtles.org) - but they are now carefully monitored by conservationists, and you can even follow them online via satellite tracking. Still, this remains one of Italy's most gorgeous beaches - crystal clear water, white sand, and great snokelling and diving. Pity about the celebrities...
