There is no need to struggle through a crowd to take a swim at Boston Bay. Although most Jamaican beaches are packed with tourists, this area remains a relatively secluded destination. Waves perfectly designed for surfers crash onto the white sands and nice snorkelling sites lay just beyond the wave break. Because this location has yet to be discovered by hoards of tourists, locals like relax on the beach. Jamaican women stroll down the beach selling jewellery, and there are jerk huts lining the edge of the sand. Oil and steel drum barbeques are set up on Friday and Saturday nights and Boston Bay is said to have the best, because this is where the “jerk” dish was invented. Don’t expect the cooks to tell you their “secret recipes”, but do expect a tasty meal and lively company.
