This beach resort town has 4.3 kilometres of blond sandy beach along its coastline and behind them terrace bars and cafes, some which turn into clubs in the evening. Bloemendaal aan Zee is developing a reputation as the new Ibiza, but on the beach there are still families and older visitors under bright umbrellas, as well as clubbers out for the best parties outside Amsterdam – or possibly with all the people who’ve come down to party from already liberal Amsterdam. There's also a section for naturists if you're a nudist more than a hedonist.

In the morning and afternoons the beach resort is more about surfing, kite flying, strolling, cycling beside or walking your dog along – ice cream in hand if at all possible. The Nationaalpark de Kennemerduinen is at the beach's southern edge keeping things looking beautiful.
