Tranquil and Inspiring

The resort offers a quality experience more than material quality. You do not stay here if you want marble flooring and glass elevators rising in an atrium. We saw past the odd bit of flaking paint, to see a beautiful environment. The experience is one of peace and quiet interspersed with what activities you care to take. It is ideal for a couple such as us; she likes to read a book on a beautiful beach and call for refreshments from time to time (lot's of the time), then when the mood suits, take a walk to the spa (located on the beach) and book a treatment. I like that too, but I also want to swim, dive, walk up hills, play on boats and stuff like that.

There's no noisy watersport activities such as jet-ski's or water skiing. There are kyaks, sailboats, wind surfers all free to us guests. No activities impinge on anyone looking for a quiet day on the beach. Swimming and free diving is excellent very close to the beach. I found plenty to see well within my diving depth and distance abilities, including baracuda, turtles, rays, various eels, and just thousands of small fish. Being a non-certificate-holding SCUBA diver, the short course on the beach enabled me to join many of the dives that the certified folk had; a bit more expensive as I needed an instructor with me. The dive centre people were a nice bunch of people, serious about safety but there to help you enjoy the dive.

Most of the resort staff appeared to be local. Whether they are naturally nice people, or well trained, is not known. We found most of them to be warm and inviting people and happy to serve. Others just did their job. Eating is generally good, not excellent, but never bad. It was always a nice experience to put on proper (but cool) cloths for the evening after the beach wear, for a meal, and of course the cocktail or two beforehand. We found a room and breakfast deal the best for us. After a good buffet breakfast and lunch on the beach, we found we did not always need, or want the evening meal.

Every part of the St Lucia day is something special, from beautiful sunsets and balmy evenings, to the scorching sunny days. Even the rainy and stormy days were part of a great experience. We've been there 4 times now, and fully expect to return in the future.
