Enviably located on the outer edge of Cabo de Gata National Park, Agua Amarga is a lesser-known gem. Still a working fishing port, the village's Moorish influence is obvious in its look, with its host of square-edged, whitewashed villas calmly clustered between two sweeping, golden hillsides and a slow pace of life focused around a few bars, restaurants and supermarkets.

The beach stretches 800 metres – more than enough space for everybody – so even though there’s a whole range of watersports on offer, you’re sure to find a quiet spot somewhere along its vanilla ice cream lengths of smooth, soft sand.  This resort town is popular with Spanish holiday makers.
