Set in the heart of Southern Morocco, the Kasbah Hotel Sahara Sky nestles up against the first of the Tinfou sanddunes on the edge of the vast Sahara. Built in the traditional Kasbah style and far away from the distraction and light pollution of any neighbours the hotel functions primarily as an astronomical guesthouse, providing a gateway to the black Saharan sky.
The hotel's Sharasky star terrace is equipped with four different Goto telescopes (so called because they are computerised and autofinding, ideal for the relatively inexperienced) for the use of guests. It is possible to sleep out on the terrace, or indeed stay awake stargazing all night, and for those who want to truly immerse themselves in the uninterrupted spectacle of the pure Saharan night sky the hotel runs jeep trips into the desert itself to spend the night in a bivouac beneath the stars.
