Healthy, exotic and delicious, Sushi has taken Europe by storm. Some are still a little apprehensive when it comes to raw fish, but there is a great deal more to this Japanese art that the avoidance of food poisoning. As well as being a practical skill, sushi-making tests your sense of the aesthetic to the full; the presentation of the shapes, textures and colours is just as important as the combination of the delicate tastes which are, for the record, not always cold and fishy.
Sushi is in fact a general term for the shaped, vinegared rice pieces that are the basis of this category of cuisine, within which are included nori, maki, nigiri and temaki, to name a few. Sashimi is the term for the raw seafood dishes and yes, you will learn how not to kill your family with a blowfish!
