Learn to cook at the Château de Pallanne

Listed under Arts, Crafts & Cookery in Midi-Pyrenees, France.

Even without the lure of the afternoon fois gras and wine tasting, the majestic 18th century château, the 18-hole golf course and lazing around by the heated swimming pool is enough reason to hide the bathroom scales and jet off to Gascony in the south west of France for a week’s stay at the Château de Pallanne.

However, on top of the culinary tasting and the beautiful surroundings you can also take a week’s cooking course producing sumptuous French fare such as roasted pigeon with Armagnac, fois gras terrine with Muscat jelly and vanilla bavarois. During the afternoons you can visit the local distilleries, wander through the food markets nearby at Pau and Tarbes trying the local cheeses and charcuterie and you can also sample the food from the local three Michelin star restaurant; Les Près d’Eugénie. Or if you just fancy staying on site, you can enjoy the billiards room, soak up the fragrant air in the citrus garden and just wait until it’s time to eat again.
