The French allegedly wear hats with the most elan, and Englishwomen have a reputation for cramming them jauntily onto the backs of their heads in a less-than-chic manner. Whichever category you fall into, being able to create your very own hats (particularly ones that fit your head!) is a skill worth having if style is your passion. Once you realise how complex and individual the hat-making process can be, the impossibility of finding a good one in the shops seems much less surprising!
